In One Piece, the Marines are the main military force of the World Government, and within the organization, there is no higher-ranking position than Fleet Admiral. Following Sengoku's resignation after the Summit War, Akainu becomes the new Fleet Admiral, officially heralding him as the Marines' greatest weapon.

Fleet Admiral Akainu is a highly skilled Haki user who is already confirmed to possess Observation Haki and advanced Armament Haki; considering his staunch commitment to Absolute Justice, it's entirely possible that he also wields Conqueror's Haki. In addition to this, he also wields the Magma-Magma Fruit, which is said to be the most offensively potent Logia-type Devil Fruit in One Piece. However, there are still numerous Devil Fruits that could give the Fleet Admiral a run for his money.

Trafalgar D. Water Law is a former Warlord of the Sea, and as one of the strongest pirates in the Grand Line, he has all-but mastered his Devil Fruit, the Op-Op Fruit. This Paramecia-type is one of the most coveted Devil Fruits in One Piece because it gives its user the ability to manipulate all physical matter within a designated spherical area. Following the Awakening of the Op-Op Fruit, its effects can also be applied to specific objects.

If Fleet Admiral Akainu were to try and attack Law, the pirate could avoid the blows by using the Op-Op Fruit to swap places with another object. Thanks to the offensive firepower of the Awakened Op-Op Fruit, Law could use its powers on Akainu to either incapacitate him and remove the Fleet Admiral's heart or eliminate him in a single blow.

9] The Press-Press Fruit's Powers Are Well-Suited For Logia Users

User: Admiral Fujitora

The admirals are the Marines' most powerful weapons against pirates and each other.

Admiral Fujitora may be blind, but the powerful Marine is still a force to be reckoned with. He possesses the Press-Press Fruit, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that gives its user the ability to create and manipulate gravitational forces. Using it, Fujitora can throw battleships around like toys; however, an opponent such as Fleet Admiral Akainu could easily survive such an attack.

While Akainu is no doubt a strong opponent, when Fujitora goes all-out, he can even pull meteors down from space, which could potentially cause a big enough impact to cause the Fleet Admiral's body to crystalize. If that does not work, the Press-Press Fruit can pin a person down with intense gravity. Akainu's Logia-affected body would still be able to transform into magma, but with enough gravity, even this form would be unable to move.

8] The Paw-Paw Fruit Possesses Untold Potential

User: Bartholomew Kuma

Bartholomew Kuma repels an attack from the Straw Hat pirates in One Piece.

Bartholomew Kuma is another former Warlord of the Sea, and several decades before the events of One Piece, he ate the Paw-Paw Fruit on the island known as God Valley. This Paramecia-type is arguably the best defensive Devil Fruit in One Piece. It places special paw pads on the user's palms, which are capable of repelling anything that they come into contact with at the speed of light.

Fleet Admiral Akainu squares off with Bartholomew Kuma while the Straw Hat Pirates are on Egghead Island, and even in his ragged state, Kuma is able to go toe-to-toe with his opponent. If Akainu were to get close to winning the battle, the former Warlord of the Sea could simply repel himself to a faraway island, giving him the chance to fight another day.

7] The Warp-Warp Fruit

User: Van Augur

One Piece's most calculating and insidious villains like Judge and Kuro are conniving characters who challenge Luffy's team on an intellectual level.

Van Auger is the sniper of the sniper of the Blackbeard Pirates and serves as the Titanic Commander of the crew's Third Ship. For the majority of One Piece, Van Auger does not have a Devil Fruit of his own, but that changes during the Egghead Arc when his power is revealed in his crew's battle with Trafalgar D. Water Law and the Heart Pirates.

Van Auger now uses a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit known as the Warp-Warp Fruit, and it gives him the ability to teleport himself and others from place to place. This is a very simple ability, but it can be very effective. It can teleport Akainu into the middle of the ocean. In doing so, Akainu's Logia-type powers would be nullified, and he would not be able to save himself with Haki because Devil Fruit users cannot move while underwater.

6] Saint Jaygarcia Saturn's Devil Fruit May Be The Strongest Zoan-Type In One Piece

As one of the Five Elders, Saint Jaygarcia Saturn is one of the highest-ranking Celestial Dragons in One Piece, and he serves Imu as the Warrior God of Science and Defense. He sails to Egghead Island with Kizaru to oversee Dr. Vegapunk's death, and when he decides to intervene, he reveals his Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit.

When Sain Jaygarcia Saturn uses his Devil Fruit, he takes the form of a large spider-like oni with large horns. While in this form, Saturn's body is able to fully withstand the intense flames of the Flame-Flame Fruit, so Akainu's Magma may not be able to penetrate his body. Even if it could penetrate, Saturn's Devil Fruit seemingly gives him the ability to instantly regenerate.

5] The Ice-Ice Fruit Is A Natural Enemy To The Magma-Magma Fruit

User: Kuzan

Kuzan is the Titanic Commander of the Blackbeard Pirates' 10th ship, but prior to joining this pirate crew, he served as a Marine Admiral. He and Akainu worked together, and they even fought on Punk Hazard for ten days to determine who would become the next Fleet Admiral. Unlike Akainu, Kuzan ate the Ice-Ice Fruit, a Logia-type Devil Fruit that gives him the ability to create and transform into ice. This ability also allows the user to instantly freeze people.

In the right hands, this Logia can permanently alter the weather of an island. Thanks to Kuzan's strength, half of Punk Hazard is now a frozen wasteland. Magma may seem like a natural counter to ice, but if that were true, Kuzan and Akainu's battle would've lasted a few minutes, not days. Magma is hot, but ice can cool it down to the point it becomes a heated rock. If Akainu were caught off-guard, the Ice-Ice Fruit should be able to freeze him.

4] The Hobby-Hobby Fruit Could Potentially Defeat Any Character

User: Sugar

During One Piece's Dressrosa Arc, Sugar is an important part of Donquixote Doflamingo's plan thanks to the tremendous potential of the Hobby-Hobby Fruit. This Paramecia-type Devil Fruit halts the aging process, which is why Sugar still looks like a child despite being 22. However, it also allows her to transform living people into toys, although she needs to physically touch them first.

Even Fleet Admiral Akainu can be turned into a toy — unfortunately, he can reverse the transformation with Haki. That said, Sugar does technically have a way to stop Akainu from using Haki, as the Hobby-Hobby Fruit encourages the user to form a contract with each toy once they are transformed. If Sugar can form the contract in time, Akainu should be forced to follow all of her commands until she is knocked unconscious.

The Celestial Dragons forced Boa Hancock to eat the Love-Love Fruit when she was their slave, and despite the despicable nature of this act, it did give her the power to petrify others. Most of the time, Hancock is able to turn people to stone because they cannot resist her beauty and charm. While Akainu would not fall victim to this form of petrification, there is another way to achieve the same effect.

Hancock can turn someone to stone by physically striking them, but she needs to hit them multiple times to petrify their entire body. Akainu may be able to counter the petrification with Haki, but if he is surprised or overwhelmed, the petrification should stick.

2] The Tremor-Tremor Fruit Is Said To Be The Strongest Paramecia

User: Edward Newgate (former) / Marshall D. Teach (current)

The strongest pirates can use advanced Haki and wield powerful Devil Fruits.

Whitebeard was considered the strongest man in the world, which makes sense since he wielded the power of the Tremor-Tremor Fruit. It is considered the strongest Paramecia-type Devil Fruit because it gives its user the ability to send powerful quakes through any medium. This power can destroy whole islands, and if used correctly, it can theoretically destroy the entire world.

The user of the Tremor-Tremor Fruit can focus these quakes into bubbles around their fists, and in addition to this, they can use these bubbles to deliver punches that can shatter bone. During the Summit War, Whitebeard focuses the quake bubbles into his fists, and using them, he deals serious damage to Akainu's Logia body. If Whitebeard had not been critically wounded, he would likely have destroyed Akainu with the Tremor-Tremor Fruit.

1] The Dark-Dark Fruit Thrust Blackbeard To The Top Of The Pirate World

User: Marshall D. Teach

Marshall D. Teach stole the Tremor-Tremor Fruit from Whitebeard, but he also possesses the power of the Dark-Dark Fruit. He can control and manipulate darkness; however, unlike other Logia users, his body cannot become intangible. That said, if Akainu fires magma projectiles, the Dark-Dark Fruit can absorb the attacks like a black hole.

Akainu's best option would be to hit Teach with magma punches, but that would require him to get within melee range. If this happens, Teach can grab Akainu, and in doing so, he can use the Dark-Dark Fruit to nullify his Devil Fruit powers. This will turn Akainu back into an ordinary human, and Teach can then absorb him and hold him prisoner.
